Financial Contributions

Update (October 15):
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the campaign! We’re into the final week and are no longer accepting donations as I’ve budgeted out the remaining money and there’s not much time left to put new donations to best use.

Please plan to join us for the election night hangout at the Harmony Centre on October 24th. Feel free to bring snacks to share.

Thank you for your interest in financially supporting Jon’s campaign. We’re committed to running an efficient campaign and your contribution will help us build support for Jon by funding campaign materials (brochures, buttons, signs), distribution of materials, advertising, and events.

Ontario has laws about municipal campaign contributions.

Eligibility: To contribute you must be a resident of Ontario. Corporations and trade unions are not permitted to make contributions to candidates. Groups such as clubs, associations or ratepayer’s groups are not eligible to make contributions. The members of these groups may make individual contributions from their personal funds (as long as they are residents of Ontario).

Maximum donation: There is a $1,200 limit that applies to contributions from individuals. If a person makes more than one contribution (for example, contributes money, contributes goods, and purchases a ticket to a fundraising event), the total value of all the contributions cannot exceed $1,200.

The maximum total amount that a contributor can give to candidates in the same jurisdiction (for example, running for the same council or for the same school board) is $5,000.

Contributions are not tax deductible but you will receive a receipt.
